PCI Compliance
Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliance is a set of standards or rules that governs credit card processing security for any institution, business, or other entity that runs transactions through branded credit or debit cards (Visa, MasterCard, Discover, and American Express). This standard protects businesses and their customers by ensuring that the security needed to protect the cardholder and customer data is in place. We walk our merchants through the process of becoming PCI compliant depending on their business model and specific needs.

Encryption & Tokenization
Encryption is the process of taking sensitive credit card information and turning it into an unreadable code. This effectively fights fraud and prevents unauthorized use by transforming it when it is stored and transmitted to over networks. Tokenization is the process of replacing credit card information with a token, a random string of numbers. Each token can only be used once, ensuring data is useless to hackers if stolen. Encryption is mostly used when the card is present, whereas tokenization is used when the card is not present. Gravity uses tokenization and encryption to ensure safe credit card processing with any payment method.
