Thirty-five years ago, I had the fortune to be born in Spain, in a gorgeous city from where the sun rises: Valencia. There are many things to love about Valencia, and -according to my wife- one thing to hate: Our stubbornness with what Paella is and what Paella is not. It is a delicate issue where I’m from, and I’ll be more than happy to share the recipe of the real thing with anyone who asks – Coffee is on me!
I got my degree in Computer Science from Queen Mary University in London while I worked as a waiter, and that experience helped me understand how much I like to engage with customers. As I felt at the intersection of technology and people I decided that I wanted to explore how to bring that technology that I loved to even more people – and completed my training with another degree in international trade. I have lived in this intersection since then, working in technology companies like HP or Lexmark to solve customer’s needs in different places around the world, like the Middle East, Southern Europe and since 5 months ago…in the beautiful Pacific Northwest, with my 4 year-old daughter Xenia and my wife Ester, who’s been relocated at Microsoft.
Aside from paellas, traveling around the world and spending time with my family, my other great passion is sports. I have run three marathons, and I play soccer frequently (I have to say I was average in Spain and since I came to the US I feel like a pro, no offense intended ). I am an extremely passionate FC Barcelona supporter; if you haven’t seen Messi playing soccer, you’re missing one of the greatest players the world will ever know. One of the things that I miss most from Spain is a sport that is played in lots of countries but not yet in the US – Padel. I’m hoping it will become popular here soon; I genuinely miss it!
