My Name is Micah Kamuela (It means Samuel in Hawaiian) Chinen. The name Micah is a book in the Bible and he was a prophet in the Old Testament. I was born and raised in Hawaii. I went to Castle High School and Kapiolani Community College here in Hawaii. I worked in the surf industry right after high school. I surfed in a couple of local surf contest and love surfing. I try to surf every Friday morning at 530am before the day starts going. I have three kids, one wife, five surfboards, one paddle board, and that’s about it.
At a young age, I got to see how my Grandpa would care for my Grandma, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s when I was around 10 years old. I saw my Grandpa care for her and totally love her without any response from her. She had Alzheimers for 16 years, until she passed away. My Grandpa would do bath care for her daily, brush her hair, and feed her. This taught me what it truly means to love someone unconditionally. I am truly thankful everyday for all the blessings in my life.
My father, who has been a pastor for the past 37 years, has taught me that success is defined by seeing those around you do well and the better you do, the the greater the sacrifice you need to make.
