It’s Inauguration Day: Turn Off Your TV

By Dan Price

Today marks a changing of command. Almost everyone has a strong opinion. Some are elated, others are scared. But no matter how you are feeling this Inauguration Day, it’s important to realize it’s the people – you and me – who hold the true power to make change.

Regardless of who is sitting in the Oval Office, if you’re waiting for that person to change your life, you’re going to be disappointed. We spend a lot of time waiting for the people above us to fix what’s broken. Too often we make excuses for inaction, sitting on the sidelines hoping others will do the hard work.

Our team at Gravity Payments didn’t sit on the sidelines and wait for someone to give them more money; they worked hard and showed me that they were underpaid; they inspired me to set our $70k minimum wage.

So please turn off the TV, stop lamenting or celebrating and get out there – it’s not going to happen without you. In the words of Ghandi: “Be the change you wish to see in the world.”
